Video Analysis: SNSD- Mister Mister

Mr.Mr. SNSD Album video analysis earcandyexpress

I’m back! *starts singing I’m Back by Lee Hyori* Hey my loves, it’s me Arie Jai and I’m back to writing reviews. I’ll be posting my review schedule on a Calendar for you guys. Anyway, on with the review!

I’ve been out of the k-pop loop, but I’m slowing readjusting. When I saw teasers for SNSD’s new MV I was a bit skeptical that it would be that same old “cutesy” sound that SM puts out and I was wrong. The overall concept could have been executed a little better. I liked certain points in both the song and the video. Video wise, I liked that the girls got out of the SM box that everyone likes to dance in so much and moved to the parking lot ( baby steps people). I also liked the “medical” concept; if this had been expanded just a little further I would’ve liked it even more. What I didn’t like was the filters and editing; filters are for Instagram pictures and teaser videos NOT videos; it just came off as cheap. Coloring off the video however fit their feminine concept, but still looked mature.

The choreography had some hits, but just from the bits shown in the video, it seemed pretty weak compared to some of their stronger choreography like ‘Run Devil Run’ or ‘Genie’.I liked As for the song, it was very anticlimactic; I thought right after the dance break when the bass dropped, that it was gonna be some epic climax that would just take the song to the top. Sadly, it just was sloppy; not impressed.

Overall:

Video: 2.5/5 okay video, nice coloring but overall plot/storyline was confusing

Song: 3/5 Needs some work, maybe re-editing but still could be a good song
